WHAT I'M READING
I had a relaxing Thanksgiving weekend at the in-laws with lots of reading time. I finished THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING by Robyn Schneider, read LEAP OF FAITH by Jamie Blair, and fell totally in love with HOW TO LOVE by Katie Cortugno.
I'm currently reading LITTLE WOMEN AND ME by Lauren Baratz-Logsted.

WHAT I'M WRITING
Chipping away at KEYS. Seriously think I need to go to Florida for research purposes.

WHAT ELSE I'VE BEEN UP TO
SipSwap! I was so very excited to receive my awesome SipSwap mug late last week! Huge thanks to Jessa Russo for totally nailing this project.

I love this yeah yeah yeah
Is that perfect or what?

WHAT INSPIRES ME RIGHT NOW
December and the approaching holidays. I'm looking forward to preparing for Christmas, baking cookies, and spending time with my family. Come back Friday to learn about our family's 26 Acts of Kindness goal for December and January in honor of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting. And on Monday, December 9, I'll be talking about Sandy Hook over at YA Buccaneers with the month's Truth and Dare post.

Did you participate in SipSwap this year? I can't wait to see all the pictures! Such a fun idea!

    1. It's always fun to see what people come up with - I hope my person likes their mug as much (although I had a really hard time finding one I liked!).

  2. As a die-hard Beatles fan, I think that mug and saucer is awesome!! :D

Perhaps I need to set my next novel in Sweden as an excuse to do "research"... ;)

    Have a wonderful week, Sara!

    1. Colin, I think that a research trip to Sweden is a brilliant idea. And apparently there are at least three other mugs like that with different lyrics. I'll be looking into that. :)

  3. That mug is perfect for you!!! She nailed it. :)

So glad that you had a nice Thanksgiving. I don't think I've ever used "relaxing" and "inlaws" in the same sentence. (My pseudo-inlaws are very high maintenance)

And you do need to come to Florida to do research. I fully support this plan. And I will take you kayaking if it will help with your book. *grin*

    Have a great week!

    1. Kris, I might just have to write a kayaking scene into the book. :)

  4. That's a great mug!
I've often felt like I need to travel elsewhere for research purposes. Hopefully, one day I'll be a "real" writer and be able to afford it. (Or justify it.)

    1. I believe trips of that nature can be deducted from taxes - at least here in the States. I hope to be a real writer someday, too.... we'll get there!

  5. Great mug. I'm glad you had such an enjoyable Thanksgiving. Good luck getting ready for the next big holiday. Your 26 acts of kindness plan sounds really neat.

    1. Thank you - I hope the 26 Acts work out well - and make a difference for my kids.

  6. Your mug is so fun! I'm guessing by its title that your WiP takes place in the Florida Keys? I love it there so much. We're moving to the panhandle soon, but I'm going to have to convince my husband that the Keys is where we should vacation next. :-) I'm so glad you loved HOW TO LOVE, though I'm not at all surprised. That book is pretty close to perfect, in my opinion. Have a great week, Sara!

    1. Yes, my MC goes to the Keys for Spring Break. But it's been so long since I've been there, I really should go again. And you'll be so close once you move! :)

You were definitely right about HOW TO LOVE! Great rec.

  7. I love your mug! They absolutely nailed this for you! I did participate in Sip Swap, but haven't gotten mine yet and am hoping it wasn't forgotten.

I support this "research" trip idea. Both my WiP and my screenplay could easily be helped by research trips to places I just so happen to really want to visit!

    1. Oh no! I hope you get your mug soon! And if only I had someone to fund my research trips - wouldn't that be great!

  8. A restful Thanksgiving and good books to read. What more could a girl want? Cute mug.

    1. Thanks very much! It's always nice when I get a chance to read all day. Doesn't happen often enough.

  9. That is such a great SipSwap mug! I participated, but the mug I bought isn't anywhere near as perfect as your mug! :) I'm glad to hear that you had some time to chill over Thanksgiving, and I'm looking forward to your Truth & Dare post. Have a great week, Sara! :)

    1. The mug I bought wasn't perfect either - cute, but not exactly what I was looking for. Oh well!

  10. Great mug! HOW TO LOVE is next in my TBR-pile, can't wait to read.

  11. You should definitely go to Florida to do some firsthand research if you have the chance. I'm planning a trip to Iran for some firsthand research for the future second draft of my WIP. I'd also love to someday conduct firsthand research in other countries I've written about, like Russia, the Netherlands, Hungary, Estonia, Germany, France, England, Poland, Armenia, and Georgia.

  12. LOVE your mug! Now the song is stuck in my head. Probably for the rest of the night.
You should go to Florida for research. I'm going to Oregon for research purposes myself (and the fact I have friends there who I can stay with for free) .

  13. I just realized the record is the saucer! I thought it was just packaging. How cute! Loved the sip swap, what a fun idea.
