All You Need is Love

The Beatles were on to something. Love, love, love. 

I didn't always call myself a romance writer. My books fall into the YA contemporary category, but it took me a while to embrace the YA Romance label. My early writing is mostly literary short fiction, and while there may have been some love sprinkled in, those weren't love stories. 

But there's something about first love that draws me in. When I sat down to write my first novel - my first YA anything - the idea of first love, and then, first heartbreak, really spoke to me. That manuscript - bits and pieces scraped together - is about a girl experiencing first love while uncovering the truth behind her dying grandmother's secret past. I called it a book about family... but really, it's a love story. Same with my next, more polished novel, CLOUD 9. A book about family... but very definitely a love story. 

THE LAST THING YOU SAID is a book about grief... and first love.

I have to be honest: I love to write (and read!) about love. Especially first love.
