Every New Beginning Comes From Some Other Beginning's End

2019 has come and gone in the blink of an eye, both an amazing year and a challenging one.

The year roared to life with the release of COLD DAY IN THE SUN in March. I traveled to DC and LA and around Minnesota for book events. We welcomed a new puppy into our family. We vacationed and spent time at the lake(s). My husband and I took an anniversary trip to Denver for the Greta Van Fleet concert at Red Rocks - one of many 2019 concerts. I read over 100 books and wrote a new one. COLD DAY sold in foreign countries including Bulgaria and Germany. Life is good.

Unfortunately, I also spent many weeks in poor health in October and November, and that took its toll. Weeks later, my body still hasn't quite fully recovered. But I'm okay, and I'll be continue to be okay, and I'm grateful for friends and family who took good care of me during that time.

I'm behind. I haven't blogged or written a newsletter or even sent out my pre-order incentives (so sorry - coming soon, I promise!). But I'll get there. I'm ready for the new year. I'm excited for a fresh start, a new beginning.

The other day, I heard Semisonic's "Closing Time" (for the seven-millionth time - Minneapolis boys, you know). The lyrics really struck me. Sure, I've thought about the idea that "every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end" many times. This time, though, it was these words that really hit me:

Time for you to go back to the places you will be from

The places you will be from.

Are you in the place you're meant to be?

I've been thinking about this a lot the last couple of days.

I've got big plans for 2020. I'm going places.

Tomorrow, I'll share how I'm going to get there with my One Word for 2020.

Happy New Year, friends. Look back on the past year with gratitude and be open to all the possibilities that await you in the new one.

Peace & Love,
Sara
