What's Up Wednesday: Here We Go Let's Rock and Roll Edition
I'm catching the What's Up Wednesday hot air balloon from the blogs of Jaime Morrow and Erin Funk. Go to Jaime's blog to add your link.
Here's how it works:
It's similar in some respects to the Currently... post, but it's
been whittled down to only four headings to make it quicker and more
manageable on a weekly basis. You're invited to join us if you're
looking for something to blog about, a way to let your blog friends know
what's been going on with you.
WHAT I’M READING
Here's how it works:
WHAT'S UP WEDNESDAY
WHAT I’M READING
I just started edits for another client (new adult) and am
also reading TAKEN by Erin Bowman. So far I’m super intrigued and I love that
it’s a guy narrator. It’s due back to the library on Friday, so I’m going to
kick it in to high gear!
WHAT I’M WRITING
Friends, I’m so excited to be a part of Ready. Set. Write!
This is the extra push I needed to make revisions on BBSO happen and happen
soon. It will take my mind off querying… oh wait, never mind. Obsessing and
worrying go along with the waiting, don’t they?
Ready. Set. Write! Goals:
- First 30 pages of BBSO revised and ready to send to MNYA Writers by June 19. To be discussed on Saturday, June 29.
- Revise 30 pages each week.
- Review and revise complete manuscript during the final week.
- Send to CPs August 29.
I also have a Shiny New Idea that's been creeping through my mind lately. I've jotted down a few notes here and there, so who knows? Maybe I'll throw that into the mix as well.
WHAT ELSE I’VE BEEN UP TO
The Second Monday Book Club’s discussion of DIVERGENT was, as usual,
intelligent, thought-provoking, and super fun. The discussion at one point
turned to the Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator and we explored the idea of matching
MBTI with the different factions. In my case, total match: ENFP and Amity. No
question.
I enjoyed putting together the faction-themed foods:
I'm inspired by keeping busy and having the opportunity to do what I love every single day. Some days that's writing and making progress on my revisions. Some days that's critiquing for my CPs, beta reading, or working on edits for clients. Some days it's connecting with others on social media, making the blog rounds, or being part of exciting new projects (stay tuned for more on the Exciting New Project!).
I'm a writer. I'm an editor. I'm a teacher. Some day I'd like to do these things full time but for now I'm grateful for every moment I'm able to work on something I love. ♥
So - you're signed up for Ready. Set. Write!, right? You all want this party started? Right? You all want this party started ... quickly! Right?

Wow, you've got a busy summer ahead! Thirty pages a week is a great goal.
ReplyDeleteHa, and I love the faction foods. Awesome.
Thanks! 30 pages a week SEEMS manageable... I guess we'll see once I really get into it! I'm glad to have this motivator.
DeleteI love all the faction style foods you prepared for book club! I'm going to try to entice my crew into reading DIVERGENT. We'll see!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am so glad you are on board for Ready. Set. WRITE! Sounds like you have some clear and realistic goals planned. Go YOU!
Thanks, Alison! I've been in this book club about four years and I slowly infiltrated some YA books into the mix. Now others are choosing YA books, too. You can do it!
DeleteMmm...faction-themed foods :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, they were tasty. Especially the fancy cheeses. I love cheese.
DeleteI saw all those food pictures on Instagram and was Instajealous (too much? maybe...) Excited to be doing Ready. Set. Write! with you this summer. Best of luck with your goals this week!
ReplyDeleteInstajealous - I love that! I feel like I need to have you all over for book club! :)
DeleteGood luck with your revising goals!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteThanks for hosting book club Monday. Your faction-themed treats were spot on! After our discussion, I was compelled to take a Meyers-Briggs test. My results? ESTJ.
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it. Hmm, I didn't see the S coming. Who is your favorite Peanuts character? This will tell me for sure. :)
DeleteGreat goals, Sara! And yay for shiny new ideas! :) I think your DIVERGENT book club party sounds fantastic. I would love to sit in on a discussion of that book (and snack on that yummy food). Happy Wednesday, Sara! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jaime! It was a really great discussion - except for the fact that I kept wanting to spill secrets from INSURGENT and only one other person had read it.
Deleteanother person reading Taken! I really need to get on that! Awesome goals, I know you can achieve them!
ReplyDeleteThank you! And yes, definitely add TAKEN to your TBR!
DeleteThat book club party looks like it was amazing... Love the creativity of all the foods. Well done! I hope you enjoy TAKEN. I've heard mixed reviews on Gray as a narrator, but I really liked him. Let me know what you end up thinking. :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you've got your Ready. Set. Write! goals all planned out. Best of luck meeting them. Looking forward to a summer of writing with you!
Thanks, Katy! I will most definitely let you know my thoughts about TAKEN.
DeleteGood luck with your goals as well - here's to a great summer of writing success!
Library deadlines make great motivators. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd what an awesome book club party! The food pics look so good, and pretty accurate, too.
Good luck on meeting your goals--they look really well laid out. I hope you get a chance to work on your SNI. :)
Thanks so much!
DeleteGreat goals! 30 pages/week is very doable :).
ReplyDeleteI hope you're right! We'll see next week, right? :)
DeleteHaha, those photos are awesome!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with Ready. Set. WRITE! And oooh, new project! Exciting!
Thank you - and same to you!
DeleteYour book club sounds so fun! I, too, am grateful for all the time I get to spend on the things I love--and I hope that one day you'll be able to do all of those things full-time, because you are so good at all of them :)
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks, Becky! We'll get there someday, right?
DeleteSo much great stuff here! Love the Divergent-themed food items. :0) I was just talking with a friend yesterday about what faction we thought we were in. I am so looking forward to R.S.W! Can't wait to see how it goes!
ReplyDeleteThank you! So - what faction were you in?
DeleteI love your faction-themed snacks! I want to be in your book club. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your writing goals this summer! I'll be cheering you on!
And yay for Exciting New Projects. :)
Someday - we'll all be published and in demand and we'll meet up at a big conference or something - and I'll host Book Club in my suite and we'll stand around with wine and hard-to-find craft beer and fancy cheese and we'll be Authors together and it will be fabulous.
DeleteAnd yes, yay for sure!
Love the idea of your book club with the themed foods. That sounds really cool. I can't wait to read Taken. This year has been crazy with all the books releasing. They all sound good! There's not enough hours in a day to read them all! Good luck with your writing goals!
ReplyDeleteThanks - this is the third time I've hosted with the menu planned around the book. I'm sort of a dork like that.
DeleteI know - it's so hard to decide what to read next, isn't it? I'm sort of dictated by what book comes in first from the library.
Faction foods are great. I hope you had some Dauntless chocolate cake. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Dauntless chocolate cake is fantastic, actually! Lucky for us, there were leftovers and the kids have been enjoying it, too! :)
DeleteYour faction food collage looks so awesome! Good luck with your revising goals, and I hope you find the time to work on this shiny new idea of yours!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Erin! We shall see, we shall see...
DeleteShiny new ideas, don't you love them? They surface when you're knee-deep in more pressing matters and nag away at you until you begin letting them pour out of your fingers.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your revisions! Those are great goals.... :-)
Your DIVERGENT party sounds really fun. I would have had a tough time not spilling all those INSURGENT secrets, too. Oh man, Shiny New Ideas are so fun. I think I might love that phase the most. When it's still in my head and on random slips of napkin and scrap paper, it's still perfect. Then I try to write it and all heck breaks loose.
ReplyDeleteOooooh SNI :-) Can't wait to hear more about it, Sara! And can I already look forward to receiving your manuscript at the end of the summer? or am I getting it later? :-) You know I love your writing, WFTS got me all chocked up while I was reading it!
ReplyDeleteI'm totally cheering you on and that DIVERGENT party? Sounds awesome!
My favorite faction food has got to be Candor's. I won't argue with Oreos!
ReplyDeleteI loved Taken. I thought Gray was a realistic narrator, and while he's not a character I would normally like, his love for his family and friends and the fact that that motivated him won me over. I hope you enjoy the rest of it!
Good luck on your goals! That food looks delicious, and cleverly put together. I love shiny new ideas, sometimes it's so hard to push them aside which is why I'm currently allowing myself to work on a couple of my wips at the same time in between breaks revising my main one. can't wait to hear about the new project!
ReplyDeleteI met Erin - by accident - at BEA!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your goals!
Do I spy a Trader Joe's logo? Love that place! Your faction foods look great--maybe I can lure some of my colleagues into a book club with the promise of themed snacks!
ReplyDeleteGlad things are going so well for you!
