More Favorites of 2014 + A Giveaway
Two of my favorite books of the year were written by two of my favorite people. I didn't include them in my Top Ten post (here) because these two books deserve special attention.
I was so fortunate to be a part of these books in one way or another. The first, WILL THE REAL PRINCE CHARMING PLEASE STAND UP? by Ella Martin, came into my life via tweet on Drop Everything and Read Day, when the author responded to my question about favorite Beverly Cleary books (mine is THE LUCKIEST GIRL, in case you're wondering). The rest is history - I was asked to beta read WTRPCPSU? and I did, happily, several times along its path to publication. It's a wonderful story, both serious and humorous, with a dreamy love interest.
The second came to me in a similar way, when Elodie Nowodazkij asked me to critique an early version of ONE, TWO, THREE. The final product is much different than the version I read on the beach at Cragun's Resort in Brainerd, Minnesota one hot August day. Those characters and their story stayed with me, and I was so pleased and honored when Elodie asked me to help her once again as she prepared to self-publish. This is one of my favorite types of stories - the main character suffers so much hurt and heartbreak, but hope (and love) prevail.
To celebrate the publication of these two books by two beautiful debut authors and friends, I'm giving away a paperback copy of both WILL THE REAL PRINCE CHARMING PLEASE STAND UP? and ONE, TWO, THREE.Please enter and tweet about the giveaway!
Hope your weekend is filled with good books!
