Ready. Set. Write! :: Old Friend Edition
I would call my first week of Ready. Set. Write! mildly successful. Here's an update:
1. How I did on last week’s goals ~ Well. I read and wrote every day, I took my lunch break every day, and I increased my water intake/decreased carbs, although I'm still not where I want to be on that. I exercised once (which is better than zero times) and got back to HP AND THE SORCERER'S STONE with Birdy before bed. Toad was sick and then gone for the weekend, so we'll start something together this week.
2. My goals for this week ~ Same as last week with some additions:
- Write every day.
- Read every day, even if it's just for 15 minutes before bed.
- Increase my water intake and decrease my carbs intake.
- Exercise three times.
- Lunch break! Do something writing- or reading-related during my lunch breaks at work.
- Read to my kids each night before bed.
- Complete client edits.
- Complete CP reads.
4. The biggest challenge I faced this week ~ As usual, time. I had a sick kid most of the week, so I spent time running to urgent care, buying supplies, and cleaning the backseat of my truck following a very unfortunate vomit incident. Hey, don't worry, he totally missed his iPod and headphones and two books, so we're good.
I push past Wes into the front seat and crane my neck around to look at Tricky, who is already stretched out in the backseat with a baseball cap over his face.“What’s wrong with you?” I ask. “Why aren’t you driving?”There’s a muffled groan. “You’re forgetting, I was in that car wreck, too. I’m sore as hell.”“Maybe you should have thought of that before you went clubbing last night,” I snap. I don’t know why I’m taking my nerves out on Tricky, except that he’s here and it’s convenient.“Settle down,” he says, “I don’t want you bitching at us this whole trip.”“Well, that should be easy, then,” I say as Wes slides into the driver’s seat and flips the visor down. I’m directing it to Tricky, but mostly I’m saying it to Wes: “Don’t give me anything to bitch about.”
5. Something I love about my WiP ~ I love that even though I haven't really worked on my WiP for several weeks, I still loved it when I got back into it. It was like getting together to have coffee with an old friend, like no time had passed at all.
Hello, dark roast, my old friend, I've come to talk with you again. |
I hope you had a productive week as well, RSW or not.
Great analogy--MS as an old friend. That has to be a good sign :)
