Ooh, look, a pretty new badge for spring! It's been a few weeks since I've blogged for What's Up Wednesday. Life has been busy but even with the chaos, I wouldn't want it any other way.

WHAT I'M READING
I wrote about a few recent reads on Monday. And I have to admit, after my friend Rebekah gushed about the Edelstein Trilogy (Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue, Emerald Green), I got sucked in again. I read a few good bits from Emerald Green, found a lovely photo from the upcoming film version of Saphirblau, watched the film version of Rubinrot again (and again), and am listening to the audio books again. I'm on the third book.

The thing is, I love love love these books. I know I've gone on and on about this before (here and here and here, for example), and I know that not everyone loves them as much as I do. There is just something special about them and I'm so grateful for the friends who share my feelings. Gwyneth is one of my all-time favorite MCs. She's spunky and genuine and funny. Lesley is the perfect sort of loyal best friend. And Gideon is the perfect sort of love interest - infuriating and witty and... um, what was I saying?

These books make me happy. Talking about these books makes me happy. The movie makes me happy. Talking about the movie makes me happy. So. There it is.

WHAT I'M WRITING
I'm working on KEYS, with a goal of finishing this draft by the end of the month and spending April in major revisions.

WHAT ELSE I'VE BEEN UP TO
I've got my critique group this Saturday, so I've got two selections to read for that, plus I've got an editing client. I've been making some changes and enhancements to my freelance editing business, so you'll see some updates there soon.

My husband has been out of town the last few days, so it's been all running around and chaos, trying to get the kids where they need to be. Toad officially crossed over from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts in a ceremony on Monday night. Birdy started gymnastics again last week.

Birdy also needed* new shoes:

*maybe needed is a bit strong.

WHAT INSPIRES ME RIGHT NOW
I've always been a bit of a daydreamer. I'm not much of a worrier (although when I do worry, I worry hard). I don't worry about how things will turn out - I daydream about it. I'm inspired by possibilities and promise. Lately, I've been in this sort of Field of Dreams frame of mind, you know, if you build it, they will come. This is going to be a great year, full of dreams come true. I believe it.

The snow is melting! C'mon, spring! We hit 50 Fahrenheit on Monday and I don't think I've ever been so happy for warmer temps.

Also, this:

Good stuff.

So, what's up with you? I'd like to hear all about your book and movie obsessions. So that I know I'm not alone here. :)

  1. Hello, Sara. Gymnastics is my favorite sport!! I ardently follow what's going on the gymnastics world, and I used to be a gymnast too. So I love to hear about others participating in the best sport ever!! Hope your kid is having fun!

  2. I'm with you on the Ruby Red Trilogy although the movie wasn't what I wanted it to be. We need an english version ASAP! (Although I still want to see the sequel.)
Ah, hockey players and their hair. Yikes!

  4. I'm a big fan of the RUBY RED series too, as you know, so gush away! Especially about Gideon. :-) Would you believe I still haven't watched the RUBINROT movie yet? I know, I know. I'm going to remedy that right away! It must be so exciting to be so close to the end of your draft of KEYS. I'm currently (still) in revisions, so April will be a revising month for me too. Have a great week, Sara!

  6. Cute shoes :) I was just going to watch a moment of the AHH team, but I can't seem to look away. Tom Muck at 4 minutes in is AHH-mazing.

  7. Those look like the kind of shoes that were popular when I was in upper elementary school in the early Nineties. I can just picture my best friend wearing shoes like that, along with the trend of two different socks.

Good luck with finishing your draft this month!

  8. I recently bought a copy of Ruby Red and I'm waiting until I'm caught up enough with my other reading so that I can dive in. I've been obsessed with watching Doctor Who lately and the movie The Decoy Bride. It was not what I was expecting and has such witty dialogue. I may have watched it three times this week...

  9. I am obsessed, too. I have had so much fun talking with you about the books and movies and Gideon. :) Ohhh, Gideon. Keep it up on KEYS, you are so close, and soon will have so much to celebrate!
